Bond exit pricing: yields and spreads that set what a sale brings

Current Treasury yields, corporate bond yields, and credit spreads from ICE BofA indexes published via FRED, with long-run default rates for context.

There is no single published "bond exit price." A bond holder who sells before maturity receives the market price on that day, and that price is set by two moving parts: the Treasury yield for the same maturity, and the credit spread — the extra yield buyers demand for holding that issuer's debt instead of Treasuries. When yields rise, prices fall, so a seller exits at a lower price; when spreads widen, lower-rated debt falls further than high-rated debt. This page tracks those two parts, by rating and by maturity, so a reader can see what an exit would be priced off, without pretending a single exit quote exists. One basis point equals 0.01 percentage points. Spreads below are option-adjusted spreads (OAS) over the Treasury curve.

How to read these numbers

Included: ICE BofA index effective yields and option-adjusted spreads by rating and by maturity, Treasury constant-maturity yields, the effective federal funds rate, and the 10-year breakeven inflation rate, all as compiled from FRED on October 28, 2026, plus S&P long-run default averages. Excluded: individual bond quotes, dealer bid-ask spreads, and any single-bond exit price — none is published as a market-wide figure, and an index average is not a quote on any one bond. Index yields are averages across many issuers; a holder selling one bond will face that bond's own maturity, coupon, rating, and liquidity. Spreads are shown over the Treasury curve, so a widening spread means buyers demand more extra yield, which pushes the sale price down even if Treasury yields stand still.

Disclaimer: Yield and spread levels move every business day, and past yields do not predict future prices. Figures on this page are aggregated public estimates assembled for information only.
